2.9 October 8, 2026

Summary

Major version. WPeMatico 2.9 renews the whole interface and lays the foundations for 3.0: a Dashboard to switch every feature on and off, a Settings screen that explains every option, new tools to inspect feeds and to move in from other plugins, and WPeMatico in eleven languages together with all its extensions. Update your WPeMatico add-ons first, and test the update on a staging site before updating production websites.

New

  • A Dashboard for every feature. One card per feature, grouped by what it does (Images, SEO, Campaign Types, Content Parsers, Third party…). Each card says what its switch will do before you touch it, installs the free plugins it needs from WordPress.org, starts an add-on you already own, and reads the same setting as the checkbox on the Settings screen.
  • New campaign type: Vimeo. Publish the videos of a Vimeo user, channel or group: paste the address and the campaign finds its feed on its own. Each post gets the title, the thumbnail, the player and the description, with the thumbnail stored in the Media Library and ready to be the featured image. Formerly a paid add-on, now part of WPeMatico; switch it on from its card in the Dashboard.
  • Migration Toolkit for Feedzy RSS Feeds and WP RSS Aggregator. Imports their feeds as WPeMatico campaigns, with their filters, fallback images, translations and rewrites carried to the matching add-on, and adopts the posts they already published so nothing is published twice. Pages that embed WP RSS Aggregator displays get their shortcode swapped with one click.
  • Eleven languages for WPeMatico and every extension. Spanish with its eleven regional variants, German, French, Dutch, Greek, Persian, Russian, Slovak, Romanian, Arabic and Chinese: every screen, tooltip, Help tab and campaign log line, for the plugin and all fifteen extensions.
  • Two dashboard widgets. WPeMatico Summary shows posts today, active campaigns, next run and posts all time over a seven-day chart, with the detail in three tabs: Recent, Up next and Needs a look. WPeMatico News brings the latest from the blog, cached so it never slows your dashboard down.
  • Feed List and Feed Viewer under WPeMatico > Tools. Feed List shows every feed of every campaign in a native WordPress list, with search, sorting and paging. Feed Viewer inspects any address and tells you what came back: a feed and its items, a page that is not a feed, or the reason it could not be reached.
  • Guided tours. The first time you open each WPeMatico screen, a short tour shows where everything is and what to do first. Skip it, end it, or turn the tours off for your user, and replay any of them from the Help tab.

Improved

  • WPeMatico has its own menu: Dashboard, Campaigns, Settings, Tools and Extensions sit together under the WPeMatico entry of the admin menu.
  • Every setting says what it does: a short name for each option, one or two sentences on what turning it on changes, and the full detail in the Help tab of each screen. Settings is split into sections, keeps you in the section you saved, and each extension has its own tab.
  • Quick Edit and Bulk Edit on the campaigns list. Quick Edit is more compact and writes only what its form shows. Bulk Edit sets post type, status, post format and the campaign options on many campaigns at once, and every field starts at “— No change —”, so only what you pick is applied. The campaign type filter narrows the list to that type.
  • Campaign Preview works on every campaign type, lists exactly the items the next run will publish, and leaves paid rewriting services alone: the text is rewritten once, when the post is published.
  • XML campaigns read sitemaps, Atom files and any namespaced XML, and an unreadable file is reported in the campaign log.
  • System Status opens instantly: the connection test runs once the page is up, the checks follow what WPeMatico really requires, the hosting provider is recognised (WP Engine, Kinsta, SiteGround, Cloudways, Local and more), and a new check names the HTML Tidy builds that break imported text.
  • Add-Ons page: the free add-ons install from WordPress.org right there, every membership is listed, search narrows the list as you type, every bulk action reports its result, and the page opens in seconds even when the store is slow to answer.
  • Add-ons update after WPeMatico, never before it, and every screen that shows an update says why one is waiting: the licence state, with a renewal link that carries your key, or the WPeMatico update that has to go first. Turning an add-on’s automatic updates on turns WPeMatico’s on too.
  • Campaign settings belong to their add-on: editing a campaign while an add-on is deactivated keeps every setting that add-on stored, ready for when it comes back.
  • “Delete all data” now removes every option and cached value WPeMatico owns, licence keys included. Your licences stay active in your account at the store.
  • About and Getting Started rewritten for 2.9, with Getting Started taking you to a running campaign in three steps.
  • Various UI/UX improvements: vector logo, one colour scheme for the Settings menu, list tables that follow WordPress 7 and readable System Status tables.
  • Tested with WordPress 7.1.

For developers

  • Campaign types live one per file under includes/campaign-types/, built only on public hooks. A type whose source is a feed declares itself in wpematico_rss_campaign_types and inherits the whole standard fetch; wpematico_custom_simplepie works on its own for the rest.
  • Register a Dashboard card with the wpematico_modules filter; option or pro_option bind the card to a setting.
  • Campaign fields: wpematico_campaign_addon_fields (pro_check_campaigndata keeps firing), wpematico_check_campaigndata takes a $strict argument for saving, and WPeMatico::update_campaign() keeps stored fields unless $replace is passed.
  • New filters: wpematico_post_parent, wpematico_create_autocat, wpematico_blocked_insert_count, wpematico_fetch_posts_summary, wpematico_campaign_count_column, wpematico_campaign_count_row_meta_keys, wpematico_sidebar_widgets, wpematico_settings_widgets, wpematico_vimeo_metabox_options, wpematico_get_host and wpematico_addons_feed_timeout. wpematico_allow_insertpost also receives the feed item, and wpematico_is_previewing_item() tells an extension that the item is going to the screen and not to the database.

Before you update

  • WPeMatico 2.9 needs the add-on versions released with it. Update your add-ons before updating WPeMatico: Professional 3.7, Full Content 2.9.4, Better Excerpts 3.6, Custom Hooks 1.4, Exporter 1.6, Facebook Fetcher 3.4, GPT Spinner 3.5.2, Make me Feed Good 2.13, Manual Fetching 1.2, Office Campaign Type 1.6, Polyglot 1.7, Polylang 1.1.2, Publish 2 Email 1.6, RSS Feed Reader 2.0.0 and Synchronizer 2.3. They also run on WPeMatico 2.8.27. An older add-on stays active, with its licence screen and its update button, and its features resume as soon as it is updated.
  • The WPeMatico screens moved to their own menu, so bookmarks to its Settings or Tools pages need saving again.
  • The plugin files moved from app/ to includes/ and assets/. Custom code that loads a WPeMatico file by its path needs the new one.

Recommendation

Recommended for all users. As a major version, back up your site, update your add-ons first, and try the update on a staging copy before updating busy production websites. Your campaigns, feeds and settings carry over as they are.
